Women’s Sexual Dysfunction (FSD)
Female sexual dysfunction (FSD) is a collection of disorders that has received much attention. A woman’s sexuality is the product of her genes, upbringing, history, mood, physical health, medications, environment and relationships. A study published in 1999 estimated that 43% of American women had experienced sexual difficulties. Every woman may experience sexual function. FSD may be permanent or acquired; generalized or situational.
There are seven classifications of FSD:
-Hypoactive Sexual Desire Disorder: the constant or recurrent lack (or absence) of sexual fantasies/ thinking, desire for, or receptivity to, sexual activity which causes individual suffering.
-Sexual Aversion Disorder: the persistent or recurrent phobic aversion to and avoidance of sexual contact with a sexual partner, which causes individual suffering
-Sexual Arousal Disorder: the persistent or recurrent incapability to achieve or keep adequate sexual excitement, causing personal distress. It may be expressed as a need of subjective excitement or a need of genital (lubrication/swelling) or other somatic responses.
-Orgasmic Disorder: the persistent or recur-rent complexity, delay in, or absence of attaining orgasm following adequate sexual stimulation and arousal, which causes private distress.
-Dyspareunia: repeated or persistent genital pain connected with sexual intercourse.
-Vaginismus: repeated or persistent involuntary spasm of the musculature of the outer third of the vagina that gets in the way with vaginal penetration, which causes personal pain.
-NonCoital Sexual Pain Disorder: repeated or persistent genital pain provoked by noncoital sexual stimulation.
But call you attention that these definitions needs the condition to be persistent or recurrent. But, when the trouble occurs regularly or all the time, then the woman may have one of the FSDs.
The requirement for personal suffering in many of these definitions is contentious. A woman with Hypoactive Sexual Desire Disorder might have no personal distress about her low libido. Alternatively, her partner may undergo greatly causing distress to the relationship.
