Domestic violence can take place in various forms and can have an effect on people of any age. It can be very terrifying and it may be difficult to know how you can prevent it if a person is hurting you. It is significant to keep in mind that not a soul has the right to be aggressive towards you and there are people out there who can help.

Spiritual - This violence is about not permitting you to have your own views about religion, cultural beliefs, and values.

Emotional - This form of violence is habitually unrecognized and can be very cruel. Some forms of emotional violence are making threats, speaking in a way that is terrifying, putting you down, and emotional blackmail.

Physical - If a person is hurting you then you will perhaps have to take some action. Some forms of physical violence are: pushing, shaking, slapping, and forcing you to do sexual things against your will, flinging things at you, damaging your property, hurting or killing pets.

Social - This form of violence may take place in combination with other forms. If a person is insulting you or teasing you in front of other people, keeping you separated from family and friends, controlling what you do and where you go, then they are being aggressive and you may need to take some action.

Economic - Having money and being able to make decisions about it, is one denotes of being independent. This is a form of violence if a person is controlling your money, keeping you fiscally dependent, or making you ask for money unreasonably.

Sometimes we undervalue the amount of hazard we are in, either for the reason that we don’t realize or don’t want to believe how dangerous a situation is. Being protected is important and there are things you can do to make sure your safety.

If necessary, you may have to move to somewhere safe. Making a decision to leave a situation where you feel insecure may be hard and creepy. Talk to someone you belief, like a friend, a counselor or youth worker if possible.

Believe in yourself: it can be hard to keep your self-confidence if someone is hurting you or threatening to. Keep in mind it is by no means OK for someone to hurt or threaten to hurt you.
